I actually really love this light. I have to others from a different company a few dollars cheaper and don't change colors. This has a heftier feel to it, so the quality seems better. I purposely wanted a light that dims as my Blood Fin Tetras seem to not like the blinding light on the other ones I was talking about, that are the same style, just blue and white. So, I can dim it gradually at night so the fish don't freak out. Also in the a.m. I can do the same. It will turn on to the color you turned it off from... i.e., at night I first change to the dark blue and then dim it a bit. In the morning the blue turns on and the I can increase the brightness since it was retained from the prior night. After turning it on with the blue, I change usually to the white light. The white is a slightly "dimmer" less intense white light than on the other lights in this style. Yes, it may have a tiny tinge of blue to the white, but that might also just be the way it appears as it is slightly dimmed.

The ONLY question I have come up with that I didn't see in anyone's answers and that I am hoping the seller will answer for me is this: I read that you can turn on from the little "transformer" on the cord and I read someone's answer that says you can change colors that way. But, I can only assume that you can also turn it on and off that way? (as I write this I have not tested that theory out yet) Just thinking about how I'm sure the sturdy light will outlive the little remote it comes with.

BTW, I saw other people asking questions about putting it on your aquarium without a lid. I put the other one I had like this across my 2.5 gallon once and forgot about that for a while. It formed a lot of condensation, I would not recommend doing that as it is not sealed and the water might seep in and affect the wires.

This thing is pretty baller. It sits on my Fluval Spec 5 gal just right at it's very lowest width setting.

It seems to me like most of the novelty settings are the same - the ones that flash or fade the colors - except the last one, which is smooth and perfect for your jammin fish discos.

Other colors are fun to switch to for morning, day and evening, and there's quite a few brightness settings.

I had hoped it would be bright enough for my one high-light needing plant, a red lotus, and I'm not sure if it's that or something else, but it seems to have plateaued at a smallish size. Other than that, the plants are doing well. Sometimes I even get a little algae so, yeah, it's getting light.

I should have invested in a timer, though. Buy yourself a timer.

I also used this at a party by hanging it from the ceiling. No joke. Worked great.

I've had this only for a week or two but so far so good. Nice & bright--for those reviewers who were disappointed that it was too dim, I wonder if they are aware that the brightness is adjustable. When I first turned the light on, I was disappointed, too; but playing around with the remote I realized there are two buttons that adjust brightness (brighter and dimmer)--and my light was by default on the dimmest setting. So as soon as I turned it up, no problem. There are tons of colors but I really only like white for daytime because I have a planted tank and I think it needs white, and blue at night (to simulate moonlight). Actually I wish I could make it even dimmer for night.

The light has no timer but I just plugged it into a cheap outlet timer meant for lamps--you can only do one color that way, though (you can still change color manually). I might use a few of the other colors once in a while for fun. There are also several special effects that seem pretty similar to me, involving flashing or rotating color changes, that I'll never use because to me they're irritating and I imagine the fish would find them stressful. But if you feel like playing around you could.

This style of LED light is so low-profile and unobtrusive it's wonderful--I'm replacing a huge ugly black fluorescent light and it's worth every penny just for the improved view alone.

This light is ok just ok quality not very good. But I kept it.

Easy to use, to adjust, to move. Lots of colors to choose from.
