Used as part of backup system for sump pump.

Giving this 4 stars as I've only had it for a few days.
I bought this to connect to a couple deep cycle batteries for a DIY sump pump battery backup solution.
I have a water sensor which will tell me when my main pump (on the grid) fails. I need the secondary pump to run for a few hours allowing me enough time to get to the house to deal with the problem, or have a family member get there.
If the power is still on then we simply plug the secondary pump into the wall outlet and let it run. If the power went out then I hope to god that the power is restored before my batteries are drained.

I have two sump pumps.
1/3hp Zoeller - Primary pump
1/3hp Liberty - Backup pump (this one lists having lower power requirements than the zoeller)

I don't have the Libery pump plumbed in yet so I tested my setup using the Zoeller.

For the test I have the Zoeller plugged into the Ampeak 2000W power inverter. The Ampeak was connected to a 105ah deep cycle Exide marine battery.
The battery had been charged using a Noco Genius 7200 charger. The Noco charger remained plugged into the batter during the test run.

My sump is currently running for about 4-6 seconds with a 40 second pause between pumps. I let the test run for about 90 minutes.
No issues!
The Ampeak would show about an 850W load initially which would fall to about 800W after a couple seconds of pumping. This was measured using the display on the Ampeak.

This inverter was easily able to go from no load, to near 1kw of load without issue and do this repeatedly for about 90 minutes.

I bought this inverter for one purpose. To facilitate my sump pump battery backup. It has easily done that.

A few notes.
- I have not done any real stress testing to take this inverter close to it's 2000W rating. So I can't speak to that.
- The display only has space for 3 digits, so what happens when you get over a 999 watt load???
- This unit is plastic. It's in my basement in my utility room which tends to stay fairly cold so I'm not terribly concerned about temp. It will also only run when my main sump pump fails which obviously doesn't happen often.
- The front fan runs all the time.
- The rear fans seem to kick on based on load. Right when the sump starts to run the rear fans spin up. I have a hard time believing they're temperature based when they kick on with 1-2 seconds of the sump starting.
- The display is nice. It show you the Volts as well as the Wattage load.
- Included cables are nice, 2/0 AWG and they easily reach my batteries with length to spare. I didn't measure them but I think they're 24 inches each.
- I have not stuck a multimeter on on the battery to verify the Volt reading on the inverter is correct.
- The inverter comes with plastic covers for the terminal connections. A small thing, but a nice feature to keep the terminals from being completely exposed.

I have no regrets with this purchase at all! Then again, my use case is very specific and this Ampeak inverter seems to solve my problem with ease.

If you have a different use case you may not be as pleased as I am ( or maybe you'll be more pleased??).

The unit is overly sensitive to low input voltage. I am running this 2000 watt inverter off a 4-battery bank of new 6v wet-cell golf cart batteries (wired in combination serial+parallel) with about 420AH of total capacity at 12v. Test with new batteries fully charged. When I load it up with a hair dryer pulling nominal 1875 watts, while drawing current, it draws the batteries down to under 11V, which is normal. The low voltage alarm is going crazy, and it's enough to drive you nuts. I am using heavier cables (2ga) than those supplied with the unit. The display is showing 1.6kw draw. This big battery bank and cabling should be more than sufficient size for this inverter under this load. Another reviewer, Chester, is right, it's going to be impossible to draw this battery bank down below about 50% with this inverter.

This is a review for the 1,000 Watt version. However, it should essentially be the same as the 2,000 Watt one.

Pros:
- Good built quality. The main body is made of aluminum and the "end caps" are made of rough dark plastic,
- Although the inverter is relatively big (see attached image for size comparison with a quarter), it's actually not heavy at all at around 3 pounds (1.4 Kg).
- Embedded screen showing input/output data
- Included USB type A port.
- Safety features such as: short circuit protection, overload protection, low and high voltage protection as well as overheat protection (really useful in the summer).
- Shielded terminals (ends connecting to the inverter).
- Ventilation fan is relatively quiet.

Cons:
- At this price range, it should include the alligator clips for easily connecting to the car's battery. Not a big deal, as this clips can be found pretty cheap on Amazon these days (less than ten dollars).
- USB port can only deliver 2.1 Amp (2.4 would be idea for charging tablets and large screen size electronics).

All in all, a solid device.

This power inverter is going to be very handy for me. Easy for me to install for use as I just hook it up to my battery. Plus it has an usb outlet beside the regular outlets. WOW, I am amazed!! This is a Huge source of power, I would definitely recommend this product to my friends. My video shows this operating my garage door opener!

WOW, I am amazed!! This is a Huge source of power, Its amazing, you can literally run a tiny house on this, I used 5 power tools at the same time on it to test its limits and all worked amazing without slowing a bit. This is defiantly for pro campers and site workers, its a bit expensive but defiantly worth the price and value. Awesome device
