This is my second time owning this model- I had a silver version of it that I lost and immediately ordered a replacement in black finish within an hour of misplacing it, I found it THAT handy and could no more leave home without it than I could my wallet, phone or watch. The argument can rightfully be made that more expensive products are superior, however, for the price you pay for this unit, you get a reliable little piece with a modest and strong enough edge, near flawless assist mechanism, functional and actually kinda stylish in my opinion

Advantages

The Mtech USA Ballistic MT-A705 knife is spring assisted, which means easier deployment; you can even open the knife using only one hand. Once the knife is open, the blade is locked securely into place using its liner lock.
The sleek and shiny blade itself is about 3.75" and made of thick stainless steel. The blade is even sharp enough to shave hair, according to one very satisfied buyer. Meanwhile, the sides of the handle are made of aluminum.
The MT-A705 is generally well built and is a bit bigger and heavier than it seems in pictures. When closed, it is roughly the size of an iPhone 6.
The knife also comes with a silver stainless steel pocket clip to make sure that you have an easy time carrying it with you wherever you go.
For added efficiency, the MT-A705 even has a bottle opener, screwdriver, and glass breaker, making it a multi-purpose EDC item. Most buyers have admitted to buying it because of the attractiveness of the gorgeous color combinations of the blade and the handle; however, they also ended up as satisfied buyers.
After all, aside from being just a beautiful and stylish knife, the MT-A705 is also practical and effective. It is also a lot less expensive than other EDC knives.

Disadvantages
While buyers seem to notice that the MT-A705 is indeed durable, they also noticed that it is prone to scratches and fingerprints. Some buyers feel that the knife is better off in a display case rather than for every day carry.
Some have commented that similar to cheaper knives, there is some space between the blade and the sides, which may mean that it is not too sturdy. Another thing is that the MT-A705 is heavier than more expensive knives, so if you don't care for heavy pocket knives, this might not be the tool for you.
One important thing to watch out for is its locking mechanism. A few reviews have mentioned that it is faulty, and this is dangerous.
If the knife doesn't lock, this could be a safety hazard. In fact, there are a few buyers who have reported being cut because of this.
The spring-assisted opening mechanism is also weaker compared to other brands, as shared by other buyers. Regarding the sharpness of the blade, which received a majority of positive reviews, a small number of buyers said that the knife they received was as dull as a generic butter knife.
A few reviews also observed that the coating easily flaked, and that after only a few uses, the screws fell off and the knife was rendered useless.

Verdict

If you're into physical appearances and quality, the MTech USA Ballistic MT-A705 Series Spring Assist Folding Knife might be the knife for you. It is undoubtedly gorgeous and a pleasure to use because of the superior sharpness and sleekness of its pretty color combination blade and handle.
For its price, you actually get more than a knife because it comes with other features as well. This multi-functional tool makes it a joy to bring with you every day.
Though there are some reports about its faulty locking mechanism, it is still a generally good and functional knife, especially for its price.

A couple of weeks after receiving this knife, (which, I'll admit is an attractive blade, and i did get several compliments on it), I noticed one of the little screws holding the handle together was missing. No biggie. it was still pretty solid after all! Then a couple of days later, I noticed yet another screw missing next to where the last one used to be. Now, the handle was developing some "squishiness" when gripped. A couple of weeks later, a third screw went missing, and things only got worse from there. A couple of days later, the part, (the name of which escapes me) that holds the two sides of the knife's handle together? 2 of those fell out, and now the handle is just about done for. Very disappointed, since it really is a good looking knife. 1 star. :/

Would not lock at all. Following the advice of another review, I used the thumb opener. Now it locked 50% of the time, but 50% of that, the lock got stuck and I had to work very hard to close it again. I don't expect much for 8 bucks but I would at least like something that's not completely unsafe.

For a cheap knife this is really great. Blue and silver looks ready nice. Smooth finishes. The spring assist works well. I first tried to operate it with my thumb but that is really tough, when I changed to my pointer finger it opens very easily, snaps open fast and locks securely in place. Very happy with this.
Update: I bought another in a different color and it didn't open as smoothly as the first. Easy fix! Loosening the screw that holds the blade just a tiny bit may help, but what made a huge improvement for me was putting a tiny bit of gun oil on the little metal nubs that push against the blade to control its movement. While the blade is out those nubs are between the handles just inside from the blade metal. 1 nub is on the blade lock, the other is directly across from that on the inside of the handle. They are needed, just put a dab of oil on them with a Qtip. Works perfectly now.
