Great Lakes vs. Vital Proteins vs. Zint vs. Zhou
AJ•April 14, 2018
I'm a long time user of collagen as a protein powder. When I developed a very long list of food sensitivities and struggled to get enough protein, hydrolyzed protein powder was my go to. Now recovered from food issues, I'm still using it to strengthen my nails and hair.
So, I started with Great Lakes brand, and although the quality, I think is good, it doesn't dissolve very easily in anything other than hot liquid.
Great Lakes Gelatin, Certified Paleo Friendly, Keto Certified, Collagen Hydrolysate, Peptides, Pasture-Raised Grass-Fed, Non GMO, 16 oz, Frustration Free Packaging
Next, I tried Vital Proteins, and although I really do love this product, the price is very high. Vital Proteins dissolves easily in hot or cold and other than the price, I have absolutely no complaints about it.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (20 oz) - Pasture-Raised, Grass-Fed, Hydrolyzed - Paleo, Keto, Whole30, Gluten-Free
Based on the good reviews, I tried Zint Beef Collagen next and it was awful. It didn't dissolve in anything, and putting it into hot or cold liquid resulted in clumpy, slimy, yuckiness (you can see my review for pictures, if you dare). The only think I liked about this product was the price, but I ended up throwing the rest away. Zint Premium Collagen Peptides (32 oz) | Grass-Fed Non-GMO Paleo-Friendly Hydrolyzed Protein
I finally came across Zhou Collagen Peptides and in my opinion it most resembles the Vital Proteins brand in consistency and ease of use with a slightly lower price tag. I'm happy with this product and have ordered it several times now.

I was experiencing the WORST dry skin
PKDobbs•February 8, 2018
FIRST off, my dermatologist didn't see anything that my skin was doing that she didn't just say it was to be expected due to AGE! I was experiencing the WORST dry skin, dry skin patches, itching, age spots and tags within two years that I could have imagined! I spent hundreds of dollars on lotions and potions that did NOTHING to relieve my symptoms even a bit! Then I started reading about my symptoms and vitamin deficiency and found that I had collagen deficiency! I continued reading and understand that even with a healthy diet due to GMO'S and what's been occurring with our foods these last 20 yrs, it's no wonder! I decided to try this product and pray! I just couldn't take it anymore. I've just ordered my second jar! I can't say enough about the positive benefits I've experienced! I was searching for relief from my skin and found my joints are feeling BETTER, I have 3 types of arthritis. I'm feeling my skin become more supple and BTW I'm noticing lines on my face going away! I drink it in my coffee and it mixes easily I like a bit of creamer and don't notice it at all! Collagen protein has become my miracle. Thank you for this product!
Look no further, this is the One!

Being an avid long distance runner, taking in some added protein is an important part of my recovery. Zhou Nutrition Collagen Peptides give me the added protein, plus the added benefit of collagen for joint health. But, the best part, NO tummy troubles! If you're sensitive to regular protein powders, give this a try.
Mixes great in hot or cold. I mix a scoop in my daily morning coffee, doesn't change the taste at all.

Dissolves well, great quality, great taste (almost tasteless)

This is the best collagen on Amazon that I've found after a lot of searching. It is the only comprehensive source of collagen that I've found that is good quality and also actually absorbs in beverages without being clumpy and disgusting. It is smooth, dissolves well, and pretty much tasteless. I even like a little bit the slightly milky flavor it gives to my coffee. I also feel better when I take it and my skin looks better, and nails get harder.
No taste, dissolves fully in pretty much everything, loads of protein, better price than competitors

I recently switched from Vital Proteins collagen peptides because of shipping/stocking issues and I've found this product to be just as good and cheaper for the price. Dissolves completely with no taste in my coffee, soups, and smoothies. I wouldn't recommend it for cold water beverages, but in hot and with a mixer/blender, it's great. I put two heaping scoops in each cup of coffee and it works like a charm. It's helping me stay in ketosis and ups my protein game. I have even found that my nails are getting a bit stronger and my skin a but more even (but, let's be honest, I'm one of those people who is hesitant to believe such differences are possible... so even these things are slight for me - nothing super dramatic... yet). I highly recommend this product and company.
