These lights are the only way to go. Didn't need to look any where else. Amazon first chose for online shopping
Powerful little light with the perfect spectrum! Just would like to see a few changes.

Before I begin, I'll just provide a brief description of each photo I've uploaded for context:
â‘  Photo showing the light used with one of my 5.5gal tanks.
â‘¡ Photo of the tank from a slightly different angle, showing the spread & coverage of the light.
â‘¢ Showing how the light looks over the tank. What can be seen here is how the light's brackets sit on a rimmed tank, & the size of the light compared to the width of a 5.5gal (tank length: 16.25").
â‘£ Photo showing how the LED diodes have been laid out.
⑤ The LED fixture's length measured (≈10.5" or 26.5ãŽ) when on top of the tank.
â‘¥ The LED fixture's width measured (≈3" or 7ãŽ) when on top of the tank.

I am perpetually searching for lights with dedicated red AND blue diodes, as those wavelengths are the most conducive to plant growth. After owning several different models of lights from various brands, I have found that the ones with the extraneous colors (such as green, orange, pink, etc.) grow a lot more algae than my tanks with just red/blue/white LEDs. So I was EXTREMELY excited to see Mingdak release this light! It was affordable, could ramp up/down, & had just the spectrum I was looking for.

It's been updated recently, but when I made the purchase for the light, there were no specific dimensions listed for each of the models. As I was needing a light specifically for my 5.5gal, I took a chance with buying the smaller unit. Although it was a little smaller than expected, I'm still totally satisfied with the light's spread & coverage of the tank. If Mingdak could please list the exact dimensions of each model of their lights in the future, that would be immensely appreciated. ☺

I waited a few weeks before writing this review in order to get a full assessment of the light's usability (purchased on 11 November 2019). I'll break down my overall experience with the light below:

ðð‘ðŽð’:
✔ Light is quite intense, & has remarkable PAR/lumen ratings for its size. I am very successfully growing plants in a low tech tank (note: I use root tabs & fertilizers).
✔ According to the box, the light's specs are as followed: Luminance @ 12" ⇒ 2700 â PAR @ 12" ⇒ 51 â RA ⇒ >85 â Lumens ⇒ 700 â Kelvin ⇒ 6500K
✔ Able to ramp up & down in order to simulate a sunrise/sunset cycle. I pair the light with Mingdak's Ramp Timer as well.
✔ Aluminum body feels much higher quality than plastic. Also dissipates heat more effectively.
✔ Doesn't get hot to the touch, making it safe to handle.
✔ Very fast shipping! I received my light in one day!
✔ Competitively priced & affordable for a fixture w/ an ideal spectrum.
✔ The light's spread thoroughly illuminated the entirety of the tank, despite the fixture being slightly smaller than my tank. I was very impressed with the coverage.

⌠As other users have mentioned, the adjustable legs sit too loosely & slide very easily. This causes the light to be knocked out of place too readily. This can be fixed easily with some tape or silicone.
⌠The cover for the LED diodes was just a thin piece of transparent plastic. Although it wasn't significant, there was a little bit of wiggle room between the plastic sheet & the light's casing. This could cause water vapor to seep into the light over time & short it out. The edges of the entire fixture along the plastic sheet can be siliconed to waterproof it.
⌠The adjustable legs has the lights sitting very low towards the tank. This isn't a problem for me, but could be an issue for others.
⌠Exact dimensions were not clearly listed initially. I still cannot see the dimensions for the larger unit.

ððŽð“ð“ðŽðŒ ð‹ðˆðð„:
📠This light was almost everything I was looking for in terms of reliable, bright lights for a low-tech setup. If you're a fan of red/blue/white fixtures like me, then I absolutely recommend it. None of the flaws I experienced really served as a detriment to my user experience with the light"”just things that the brand could work on in the future to have their products stand out from the rest.

P.S. To Mingdak, I think it would be more effective to have the listing's first image (and therefore, the thumbnail preview image) to be one of the light showing that it has red/blue/white diodes. I nearly overlooked this light because the black, unlit fixture didn't initially capture my interest at first. I would've immediately clicked on it had I seen the colors of the diodes. 😉
Awesome

The media could not be loaded. This light was so cheap so I didn't expect much, but its really cool. it has 3 light effects, 1 gives your tank a yellowish hue, 1 is more white and clear, and 1 blue effect. the brightness levels are great, you can adjust based on any fish/plants needs.

the timer is awesome also. when you set it it turns off after x amount of time, then it auto turns on at the same time the next day! that was a cool surprise.

it seems durable too. I've had it for a year now and actually dropped in the tank water once. it still works great.

I decided to upgrade the stock light on my Fluval Spec V with these lights. One alone was noticeably brighter, but I actually got 2 for a more blanketed coverage, making sure no plant was shaded.

Within a day, my riccia was pearling, despite never doing so before, even with CO2 injection. My alternanthera reineckii even colored up within 2 days, from a dull brick red to the bright magenta. Even the tetras were reflecting more blue light. And the blue coloration on my shrimp is more noticeable now, when they basically appeared black under weaker lighting.

Timer is easy to program. Just turn on your lights and set the 3/6/12hr duration and it repeats that setting every day. So you save a bit of money on outlet timers. Mine are set at 12hrs from 7am to 7pm. I realize that's a long photo period, but my plants are happy. Only downside is they don't fade in or out. My fish aren't so skittish but maybe yours are.

Price is fair, too. A pair of these lights were just under $60, which even a single name-brand light will cost while not providing the par or spread of 2 lights.

Even the lights themselves are aesthetically pleasing. Most other brands print their logo on the frame, but these are totally blank, sleek, and slim. I just wish they came in silver.
