Easy enough for one person

For someone who is short like myself, who is only 5 foot two, I find it easy to be able to load and unload my own kayak on the top of my jeep grand Cherokee. I like to be able to be independent and this is what works for me.

Some reviewers had issues with kayaks falling off or screws coming loose. We bought this for a trip to Lake Tahoe from Idaho. After reading those reviews I took a few extra precautions. 1: I used lock washers. 2: I used a strap that goes over the top of the boats and wraps around the interior of the car. (Open the back doors) It makes a loop around the boats and the roof of the car. 3: We used straps on the fore and aft end of the kayaks. I checked the knobs and screws at all our stops. The Big knobs vibrated loose a little but nothing to lose a kayak over. While in Tahoe we drove without the front/rear tiedowns at 50-60 MPH with no issues. The one HUGE problem I have with this rack system is the 2 supplied tiedowns that go around each individual kayak. I had to climb on top of our CRV to get them through the small groove in the rack. My other option was to use the 7 1/2' PVC pole with a bolt through it to put the straps through. (I made it to fetch things out of my 8' bed on my truck) There is just no easy way to attach these integral straps. 4 outta 5 stars

The is a great candle. Love that it came with two very long straps and two holders for the front and back of the car. The price was a great price point. It also came with extra long rope for the front and back. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is installing it was a PIA. Meaning you have to tighten with your fingers twelve nuts, four on each cross bar. The nuts are very tight and you don't have a lot of space under the cross bar. I took off the cross bars and installed the cradles and then put it on the roof rack. Believe me it was still a PIA and took forever. Mind you no tool can help with this nut.

Comes with everything I needed to tie my boat down. Everything was sturdy and right after my 5 hour drive with the canoe. Tightening the bolts was a little awkward but but that is a small thing. My cross bars do not stay on full time so rather than loosening the bolts, I just took the rack off and it will be ready for my next time to the river
