If it won't interview properly, factory reset it before trying to include again
Sir Wuffleton✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 7, 2023
Only con is that this is a "No Security" only 500 series device - still gets great battery life though, and if you're just having it talk to an automation controller there's not really anything malicious anyone can do by triggering the safe and pre-defined actions from your controller. Just don't circumvent z-wave association group security with your controller using one of these to control something important like an access-control device or thermostat.

I had a lot of trouble getting it to include to zwave-js-ui at first, but doing the factory reset procedure and trying to include it again worked - try this first if you're having issues before you just send it back!
Great scene controller, but a bit hard to install and configure on Vera Edge
R. Murphy✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 3, 2023
Just to set the record straight, this scene controller actually produces 32 events when installed on my Vera Edge, they are as follows:
Key 1 short press = 1, Key 1 quick double press = 2, Key 1 long press =3, Key 1 release after long press = 4. Key 2 short press = 5, Key 2 quick double press = 6, Key 2 long press =7, Key 2 release after long press = 8....
Key 8 short press = 29, Key 8 quick double press = 30, Key 1 long press =31, Key 1 release after long press = 32.

That said, I am implementing Vera's alternate event system to capture and forward these events. The issue that I have had with the ZRC-90US is that the Vera Edge does not add the sl_CentralSceneAttr or sl_CentralScene variables automatically, which are essential for the ZRC-90US to function properly. The following describes the process that I have used to include the ZRC-90US:

During inclusion, press the "L" button 3 times. Once it is included. Go to the ZRC-90 controller device, use the Commands tab, and select Configure Node Right Now. This should be performed in unison with pressing the "w" key multiple times until the device is updated.
Next, go to the Select Scenes for Device Buttons tab and press the Assign Scenes to Buttons option.
You should now see the sl_CentralSceneAttr or sl_CentralScene variables, under the Advanced->Variables tab, which indicates that the scene controller is functioning properly.
Finally a replacement for the ancient Intermatic HA07
Brian Harvey✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 1, 2023
When I switched from X10 to Z-wave, I really missed the eight-unit desktop controllers. The only thing I could find that sort of worked was the Intermatic HA07, which was painful to program and painful to use. (You click "all off" and it actually sends Off messages to each switch separately.) This new eight-button controller recognizes double clicks, so you can control 16 switches if you program your primary controller to toggle the switch when you push the button, instead of click once for On and twice for Off.

It took me a few days to get toggling to work with my HomeSeer HS4 Zee S2, because it turns out you have to trigger on "the device's value has been set or changed" rather than on "the device changes value to button-press." But now that I have that under control, I've ordered 10 more, to replace all my Intermatics. I just wish Amazon had a quantity discount!

P.S. It would be better, though, if the device were less symmetrical, so you could easily feel which way to hold it in the dark. (You can feel for the little opening where the LED is, so it's usable, but if I were the designer I'd have put a big bump in front where the batteries go.)
The Z-wave world really needs a unit like this.

This does not work with SmartThings. I tried the device handler as indicated and nothing. The Z-wave world really needs a unit like this. Or, a decora multi-button device that looks nice and triggers scenes. That's all.
I tried to make my own button panel by wiring buttons to a minimote. I was going to have the minimote live behind the switch plate with a USB charger in there with it. The 4 buttons on the minimote are membrain switches and very difficult to solder. I destroyed it.
Come on Z-Wave! Get it together!
If someone can tell me how to make this ZRC-90 work with ST then I will change my review.

I got it to work. I'm not sure how. It seems that it took awhile for Smartthings to accept it. So, as others have said, its not that easy to set up. Why isn't there more simple Z Wave button panels out there? All lighting control companies have them such as Lutron Homeworks, Crestron etc. The couple of complaints I have of the ZRC-90US is that response time to button presses is a little delayed at times and that the unit looks like it belongs in an old folks home. The beige reminds me of the old computer cases. Is this a geriatric remote? Make it sexy for goodness sake!
Exactly what I've been looking for!

I've been using this for my smartlights for about 2 years now. Compared to the previous switches I had tried, these have been amazing! The battery life has been fantastic, I've maybe changed the batteries once a year. It has been extremely reliable in use with my Hubitat. The only detractors I can note is that it is a little bit spendy (tho worth it), and can be a little confusing to set up.

I am so glad to see them in stock again, I intend to buy more for around my house.
