Piece of junk.

This is the third lousy Infant Optics monitor I've purchased. The first two quit holding a charge after about 8 months and 12 months respectively. This one arrived with a battery that wouldn't charge at all. Sent it back, not wasting money on another one.

Doesn't pan but we use for our 3YO so we don't need it too. Works great and the lack of pan and small screen are the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

Camera quailty, sound quality, and range are really good for the price. The main difference between this and the DXR-8 is screen size, camera quality, and ability to rotate the camera remotely. My biggest complaint is though it uses the same technology/band and the DXR-8, the nicer cameras are not able to be linked to the DXR-6 monitor. This would have been a huge plus since the technology is supposedly the same. Otherwise, better than most anything it its price range.
This product is fine

The real reason to buy expectant parents a baby monitor is not for the monitor itself, but to spare them having to shop for one. The market is an absolute mess, abound with same-y products (undoubtedly made in the same Chinese factories and rebadged for middlemen), tons and tons of suspect reviews, and mediocre technology. Even the big players in the space (Samsung, Motorola) deliver a poor product. I bought this one for lack of options and it has been shockingly competent. Not perfect, but not bad at all. The setup was a breeze, the connection is pretty rock-solid, the battery life has been especially good, and the picture quality is good. Reading other reviews, it sounds like the maker removed a vox feature, which would've certainly been welcome. But overall, this is a very good option, with a professional look to it and a company that appears to recognize that their reputation rests on Amazon.com and other reviews and so are eager to deliver a good product (that said, their other flagship products appear to have many, many, many reviews that may be less than...sincere).
Good monitor

I'm still on the fence about how much I like it. It's growing on me. At first we were having issues with the video being rather choppy. Still have that issue sometimes, but it's not as bad-connection issue maybe?? We've had the DXR5 and 5+ over the last 5 years. I like that this one rotates between cameras automatically--haven't set up our second camera yet, so haven't tested that feature. I don't use the "sleeping" feature and prefer to see and hear baby and toddlers without needing to push a button. I like having a "nightlight" so to speak. I like that it has a temperature indicator too. Overall, it's a good monitor and does the job. The only issue I had/have is the occasional choppy picture, but it's really just a "first world" issue--not a big deal.
