Decent ebike conversion if you can get it to fit

I added this 24VDC 250W motor to a 40-year old 10-speed bike. Only one of the motor frame clamps would fit my bike stays, and my left heel would hit the motor while pedaling. So I had to rotate the motor up and was able to attach 1 clamp to the seat stay, and the other to my bike rack, which supports the 24V battery. I also had to drill out the holes in my bike hub some in order to get their sprocket to fit. The 2x12VDC 7Ah sealed batteries I started out with did not work very well. I replaced those with a lighter single 24V 12 Ah Aegis battery and that works way better. It took me about 5 test rides to get everything right, mainly fixing my loose connections. There are no installation instructions, just a quick video on Youtube. I rode some steep hills, going about 10 miles, using the motor about 30% of the time and had no issues. It is a good pedal assist on hills, and on the flat I can get up to 15 MPH. Biggest complaint is that the motor chain and gearing are very noisy. Had some issues lining up gears, keeping chain tight. I would highly recommend using a Li-ion battery, such as the Aegis 24VDC 12 Ah one I have. It was expensive but well worth it, and I can recommend that battery. As for this 24V motor, only get it if you're handy with tools and if you can get it to properly fit one of your bikes.
It helps on hills not exactly what I was expecting but it's a great assist

If you're looking for an easy to install you know just get on it and go this is not what you're looking for and this is going to take some junkyard wars you know modifying both to brackets and the bike My mistake was I purchased the 24 volt and there's hardly any batteries out there worth putting on a bike for that so I had to get a stepped out converter for 48 volt it runs and like I said it's a hilly area out here where I live and it will assist in getting you over the hump without busting your back and wearing you out. If I had it to do all over again I would have gone ahead and gone with the 48 volt motor kit setup but it is what it is it's a learning curve and I need the exercise.
Hard installation (modifications required)

This kit was very hard to install, and required a lot of modification both to the mounting plate and to the bike.

Now that it is on the bike I actually really like it. But if you don't have your own shop and confidence to mount things yourself it can be very daunting. It is not recommended for the beginner.

I ended up just using 40 V battery packs that I got from Harbor freight, and they were great with a 36 V kit, I get about 2 1/2 miles of range with that. That is plenty for the family bike rides that we go on.

This was written on day two and I've only taken it out twice but so far so good.

I would say that if you are building something from scratch and not trying to retrofit the bike this works extremely well. If you're trying to fit this on an existing bike as a plug and play option just now but it will require a lot of work.

Week update: Things are still holding up. I ended up switching which bike this would go on because I found a cheap Walmart bike. Surprisingly I had to basically put the mounting plate back to the way it came with the kit. So if you are looking for a bike that this will fit on with only slight modification.
Ok for a kids bike

I installed this on my daughters bike. Works well for her. I have rode it a few times and it gets me where I need to go as long as it is on the flat.
I'm cruising baby!!!!

Well as stated by others this is a kit that might have to be adjusted to fit your frame. I put it on an old beach cruiser and had to reshape the bracket a bit and if only bolts to one side of the rear frame and axle but it works great. It just took a bit of persistence and home engineering.
