I bought other gators that had zippers and buckles which were a constant nuisance. Besides being a Rubiks Cube to put on, if the buckle was too tight, then normal walking action would pull the zipper apart, which was almost impossible to rectify while hiking - I threw them away. These gators have Velcro straps which are easy to put on and, if necessary, adjust on the fly. They only cover the ankle, but that's all I need to keep stickers from entering my shows or socks,

I bought these because the wet winter brought on many many weeds and grasses. They have since dried, and all these dried grasses were getting stuck in my socks. These have eliminated that problem. I recommend these, easy to put on your shoes. No more stickers in my socks!

I never made it to the trail with these so I can't speak to their performance. But trying them on around the house I just dont like how they wont line up properly on my shoes. The logo ends up crooked in order for the velcro to sit in the right place. I only put them on my shoes 2-3 times around the house and the velcro had already started making the material super fuzzy and ratty looking. Mostly superficial complaints, but I'll be returning for a better quality product.
They keep snow out of boots.

I ordered these gaiters for my 8 year old son. He needed bigger snowpants too, so that may have fixed a large part of the problem. He has winter boots that are also muck boots so the tops do not tighten around his legs. When playing in the snow with friends, his socks would get wet and his feet would get cold.
These gaiters fasten around the leg from the ankle to the knee and keep snow out of your child's boots so they can play for longer without loosing toes to frostbite. The velcro is extremely strong and your kid will likely need help putting them on and taking them off, but they will also last. Well, the velcro will last. Obviously if they walk on the strap that goes below the boot enough, it will wear out. It's just a nylon strap.
My kid wears a size small in clothes and a size 1 kids in shoes. These require some strength to stretch around his boots and snowpants to fasten. You want them to be tight-fitting so it is a good size right now, but I'm not sure they will fit next year. If your kid is much bigger than this, you might want to consider getting a bigger size.

These are excellent value gaiters for the price. I used these climbing Mt. Hood over base layer, mid layer, and waterproof layer pants, and mountaineering boots. These fit quite snug around my calves and ankle, but were comfortable. They are secured by velcro over the entire length of the gaiter. The only minor issue was that it could not wrap all the way around the neck of the mountaineering boots, so there was a small gap in the middle that could not be secured, but it did not cause any problems with the gaiter staying attached. The gaiters did a great job keeping snow out, the bootstraps were securely fastened, and they held up nicely during the day long climb. These would probably wear rather quickly if used frequently, but for occasional use you can't beat the price.
