Only two buckles and they stay in place. A little warm to wear in July, but I expect I will see a snake. The gaiters did help me avoid a swarm of fire ants that I stepped in. They couldn't figure out how to get past the gaiter and the boots!

Used them for the first time here in the southwest where we have a ton of rattlers. They fit comfortably and stayed in place great. One strap did come undone twice (we did a lot of walking through thick cactus and desert shrub) so that wasn't really a surprise and once I wrapped it around once it stayed in place. I have short calves and if I lifted my leg above a 90 degree angle I could feel it rub the back of my thigh, but not painfully so. They go on quick and easy and they did a great job of keeping the cactus needles and thorns out of my calves. Love the front guard and the way it wraps over the top of your foot. Also, they go on quick and easy. Someone complained about the quick release. They do look a little cheap but they are the same ones I have on my backpack which I use 4-5 times a week. They hold up well and did fine for me. I also like the way they go on quick and easy. Had another pair of gaiters and though they cost slightly less than these they were terrible. Tried buying expensive Irish Setter snake boots and they were terrible. This has been a great experience so far and i'm glad I picked them up. Just be aware that if you wear them with something like tennis shoes they don't cover the whole foot and part of you will be exposed as snakes can bite through light leather and fabric. I wear mine with heavy Danner Pronghorns and the two together are great. When I'm done I don't have to ride home with them on in the desert heat, I just pop them off and put them in my back seat. They go on in seconds. Showed my brother and he is dumping his snake boots and going with these.

When I purchased the Razer snake gaiters, they fit me exactly as the product photos show. Once the straps have been cinched tight, there was no slippage at all, and didn't require any other attention. The only time I realized I wasn't being protected was when I went through grasses and weeds whose burrs would stick to my socks. That's when I realized that my low-cut hiking shoes left my ankles vulnerable. A mid-ankle boot would not have had that issue. I didn't really think about them when I had them on as they didn't chafe at all. But, like any gaiter, they trap a lot of sweat, but quickly dry out. Great product!

These are easily worn and they seem to provide good coverage. They are very hot and my legs definitely sweat in them. I wear them when in tall grass by the water, and I would recommend them.

I got these for my wife and I. We live in an area where seeing venomous snakes are more common than we would like. We love the great outdoors and wanted to see if these work.

These Razer Gaiters upper protection from the calf to ankle is roughly 21"x 13" with about 5" of additional protection over the front laces on each foot. Each Gaiter has 13 polycarbonate inserts that wrap around the calf, lower leg and ankles. The inserts are covered with 1000-Denier Nylon Cordura and the pair weighs roughly 26 Oz.
The Gaiters are unisex and fit calf sizes from 13 - 20". Each Gaiter has an upper and lower adjustable tension strap and buckle. The product has been tested and certified under industry standards for both ASTM F1342015 (Puncture Resistance) and ASTM D5420-16 (Impact Resistance). The Gaiters also comes with a storage bag that is roughly 22"x 8".

The Gaiters are made of a comfortable yet durable 1000-Denier Nylon Cordura, which is similar to Ballistic Nylon.
They have polycarbonate inserts which together gives the gaiters their resistance against snake bites.

The Gaiters are secured in place with tightening straps and buckles hat can be adjusted to your comfort level.
I prefer this method to Velcro that some other manufacturers provide. While Velcro might be easier they tend to gather dirt and debris and eventually do not hold. So I was pleased this design incorporated the buckle method.

The Gaiters can be easy compacted and rolled into each other and fit snugly into the storage bag.

In testing these Gaiters, we took several hikes through rugged and sometimes treacherous terrain. Testing a few 2-3 hour hikes as well as, a few half day hikes ( 5-8 hours). Before we had the Gaiters, we were constantly scanning the ground in front and around us for snakes and not able to fully enjoy the wild and beauty of nature.
We did find that we had a peace of mind wearing these and not have to be so alert about every step. The Gaiters not only provide protection from snakes but cactus, needle point plants, sharp objects, low branches, high grass, etc. They really give you a sense of confidence to venture further out. We did not feel like they weighed us down but you definitely know they are there. We wore them over hiking boots and felt quite safe.

The right Gaiter for some reason consistently turned slightly outward so it did completely cover the top of the foot. I had to adjust it periodically back to the correct position. But the left Gaiter did not have that issue. It stayed in place for every hike. My wife had the same issue with hers. Also, we noticed that when you snug up the gaiters .. you will begin to sweat under them after you begin to warm up. This is to be expected ... that happens if I am just wearing hiking boots .. so it is not anything that I am not used to. The Gaiters took hits from swinging branches, needle plants and rock outcroppings like a trooper and never failed to protect my lower legs.

While no product can guarantee 100% protection. It's hard not to see the value in this product. I didn't worry much about safety when I was younger. Now that I am a bit old and hopefully a bit wiser .. safety seem more prudent.

All in all, this is an excellent product that I would not hesitate to purchase again. Just having the sense of confidence that you don't have to watch every step and be on high alert allows you to enjoy the outdoor.
