I gave this 5 stars just so you prospective buyers will read. No its not 5, but 2 stars.
What's right.. it works, and that's about it.
This is usable for survival info if the power goes out.
What's wrong.. The sound is thin, puny, tinny. The tuning is hyper sensitive. As is the volume control.
This is not a radio you buy just to listen to!
I'm an old guy that remembers AM radio from 1960s models. Those were way better. I've bought many portable radios.
Nowadays to get a radio that receives AM well, you will need to spend about $70, unless you happen to live near the broadcast tower. I've tried about 15 cheap radios on Amazon, and only Sony, Sangean and C Crane are worth buying for everyday listening. My advice is don't waste your time with this. How ot has so many 5 star reviews I don't know, but it's tiny, and cheaply made.

The radio was returned it was a gift. The radio sound was very clear but the cheap plastic was a concern if it ever was dropped. I would say it wasn't looked at but once maybe others have different feelings towards the quality.

Bought this for dad since it was something he had when I was a kid. He loves it. I'm the one in the family who pays attention to things like this for him. Keeps it next to I'm in his lift chair. Sound is eh...but it's not a high end audio device. He wouldn't be able to tell anyway. Easy to figure out how to turn on/off for him. He only listens to news...same channel so that's not an issue either for him.
